Atticus (1st Century BCE)
Atticus was an ancient Greek philosopher of the Platonic school. He is known for his works that defend Platonism against other philosophical schools, particularly the Peripatetics and the Stoics. Although much of his work has been lost, Atticus's influence is noted in the surviving works of later philosophers.
Atticus's writings emphasized the superiority of Plato's metaphysical and ethical doctrines, and he argued against the empirical approaches of other schools. His contributions are significant in the context of the history of Platonism and its development.
